About the Role
Wayside Chapel is embarking on an ambitious growth strategy, and a key part of this plan is developing a best-in-class philanthropy and partnerships agenda. The Head of Partnerships and Growth is a newly created executive role, reporting to the General Manager, with a focus on increasing our reach and impact through strong and collaborative funding partnerships. With the support of a talented philanthropy team, the portfolio will include accountability for high-net-worth individuals, philanthropic partnerships, corporate partnerships, and government relations and funding.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate, results-driven and experienced senior leader to drive growth across our philanthropic programs and deliver impact for communities experiencing homelessness and social isolation.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Be a trusted advisor of the Executive team, open to receiving constructive feedback and confidence to provide it to others
  • Champion and advocate for the priorities and decisions of the Executive team across the broader  organization
  • Provide related reporting and insights to the Executive team and Board
  • Work closely with the Head of Finance on budget planning, tracking, and reporting
Leadership and Culture
  • Curate your own professional profile and reputation and leverage this to raise awareness of Wayside and its mission via contemporary media and social media channels
  • Support the Board, CEO, GM and other senior stakeholders in high-level meetings with existing and prospective high-net-worth individuals, government representatives and corporate leaders
  • Lead the Partnerships team to achieve excellent and sustainable results
  • Support and mentor direct reports creating a culture of high performance, success, and continuous improvement
Strategy Planning and Budgeting
  • Contribute to the delivery and ongoing refinement of Wayside Chapel’s 2031 organisational strategy, along with the reporting and tracking of relevant strategic
  • Develop and implement a three-year strategy to significantly grow income from high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, and government and corporate partners
  • Provide expert and authoritative advice to the GM on strategic commercial and business development opportunities and the integration of new partnerships with Wayside
  • Be accountable for an income growth target for strategic opportunities including new locations and programs that increase our reach and impact
  • Ensure a seamless, coordinated and well-planned approach to all partnerships and philanthropy programs and initiatives
  • High level of decision-making and leadership to drive programs and projects to success
  • Develop robust annual revenue targets and expense budgets for the Partnerships portfolio and  oversee regular reporting on financial performance and KPIs, including developing new initia tives to track performance and improve long-term financial
Government Relations
  • Lead and drive the identification and establishment of new partnership opportunities with Government and Non-Government organisations
Fundraising Leadership and Donor Relationships
  • Work closely with the Marketing and Fundraising team to ensure that all messaging to partners is aligned with Wayside’s brand and communications strategy
  • Achieve growth and targets in the areas of major gift and corporate partnerships and sponsorship
  • Create, research, engage and manage a portfolio of high-net-worth individuals
  • Lead the development of personalised donor journey plans to create meaningful connection and engagement with high-value donors
About You
  • Experience embedding strategic thinking and clearly articulating strategic direction and plans
  • Proven capability in the creation, design and execution of strategic relationship and fundraising strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing senior stakeholders and government policy at a national, state, and local level
  • Proven track record of influencing, negotiating, and engaging with Boards, Management, volunteers, and high value donors
  • Proven success in securing funding from different sources and developing sustainable partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-value donor relationships, and a high performing team to achieve and exceed significant financial targets
  • Effective budget management, driving efficiencies and effectively supporting priorities to deliver long-term sustainability
  • Strong track record in generating grants, gifts, and bequests, managing prospect pipelines, and developing and implementing campaigns
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Membership of the Fundraising Institute of Australia (FIA) or a similar professional membership organisation
