This Government team takes the lead role in providing business and financial advisory services for assigned divisions, including internal budgeting and forecasting, labour analytics, capital reporting and planning, divisional management reporting, business case development and development of risk and savings plans. 

About the Role:

The Financial Analyst prepares management reports, budgets, and forecasts and provides advice and insights on complex work issues and other analytical support services to a range of stakeholders.

The Financial Analyst is also an expert user and supports the use of critical information systems and ensures the accuracy of systems and financial data to support business unit financial and business performance in line with corporate goals and Government objectives.

  • Performance Reporting, Budgeting and Forecasting, Financial Modeling.
  • Variance analysis with commentary.
  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget to facilitate the allocation of funding.
  • Prepares advice on complex financial and related issues in the form of briefs, reports and papers.
  • Provide analytical support services to respond to client requests and support business case development and decision making.
  • Identify and deliver finance and related initiatives in partnership with other stakeholders and teams to build performance that supports people and business objectives.
  • Preparation and finalisation of accurate and detailed budgets, accounts and management reports in a timely manner to meet corporate and the internal business customer requirements.
  • Managing all General Ledger accounts, month end and year end processes and reconciling these with financial management reports.
About You:
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia
  • Knowledge of the application of the Government Finance, Australian Accounting Standards
  • Broad understanding of relevant Government policies
  • Hands on experience with SAP preferred
  • Expertise in a management reporting, budgeting and Finance business partnering role
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting principles and practices
