Our client is a nationwide concrete firm with over 20 years’ experience as a key player in the construction industry. Their major business sectors include infrastructure, surfaces and contracting. With over 100 employees, our client is looking to grow their operation via measured and accurate financial action.

About the role

This position is responsible for the overall delivery of effective financial management. The role will report to senior executives, and you will be responsible for the management of 5 direct reports including bookkeepers and contract administrators. It is expected that the Finance Manager will provide accurate and detail financial reports and statements, coupled with implementation of continual process improvement. Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparation and timely delivery of monthly financial reporting

  • Preparation of annual financial statements

  • Balance sheet review and reconciliation

  • Weekly Cash Flow & Banking including group AR and AP reconciliation.

  • Commentary on cash position to Board of Directors.

  • Liaise with external Tax Accountants in relation to EOFY account preparation for multiple entities. This involves preparing and forwarding, requesting documentation and responding to written and verbal enquiries

  • Lead the preparation of management reporting and analysis of organization’s financial performance to ensure senior leaders can effectively respond to changing circumstances and developments

  • Uphold best practice bookkeeping and accounting practices

  • Development and maintenance of financial control environment that supports the accurate provision of financial information

  • Monthly and YTD reporting to Board of Directors including all supporting financials and other documentation required such as ATO statements, consolidated AR and AP, rolling EBITDA and other

  • Oversee monthly turnover requests and invoice for royalty charges each month and follow up on any overdue accounts.

About you

This position requires far more than an effective people manager. We are looking for a professional who can thrive in a high-volume environment and is not afraid of getting hands on.

  • 3 + years’ experience in a similar role, with extensive experience in Financial Accounting or Audit.

  • CPA Qualification is essential.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting or similar

  • Experience with MYOB preferred but any major ERP knowledge will suffice.

  • Demonstrated understanding of financial and management accounting

  • Experience with payroll including staff expenses and both permanent and contracting staff.

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Accounting Standards and their application

  • Time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Available for immediate start
