This NSW government agency is a major service provider who provides Financial services and related advice to other government departments and agencies. This government agency uses data and behavioural insights to drive improvements with government and providing services to stakeholders.

About the role

This role is to support the Financial Analysis team to proactively provide insights and analysis to senior management to help drive business performance, as well as challenging existing processes, and implementing reporting and business improvement initiatives.

Critical to the role is the ability to engage and communicate with multiple business unit management accountants to summarise and surface key business issues for the Executive Leadership Team. Experience in CEO, CFO, or Board reporting would be highly valued.

The ability to communicate through written communication and supplemented by data visualisation is highly regarded. The executive leadership team is reliant on concise, dynamic management reporting to be able to focus on making key decisions at the appropriate times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of management reporting and analysis of organisation's financial performance to ensure senior leaders can effectively respond to changing circumstances and developments
  • Provide expert financial advice and professional support to the executive, managers and budget holders to analyse and interpret financial information in respect of the business unit’s financial position by advising on trends and issues, providing options and carrying out impact analysis to inform decision making
  • Partner with the executive and relevant managers to identify and provide advice on strategic resourcing issues that impact on savings targets, funding, and develop strategies and proposals to address the identified issues to ensure targets and business outcomes are achieved
  • Develop and implement systems, policies and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial information and the highest levels of corporate governance
  • Provide regulatory agencies with compliant financial statements, submissions, information and schedules by the required dates to ensure the business meets its statutory obligations
  • Manage internal and external audit engagements for the business and implement audit recommendations to ensure business is compliant and improves its financial performance
  • Collaborate with management and colleagues to undertake reviews of accounting policies, practices, processes and provide education and training to promote change, build capability and improve efficiency and effectiveness

About you

  • 4+ years’ experience as Management Accountant, Financial Analyst or Similar role
  • Government experience beneficial
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Available for immediate start
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
