About the Company

The NSW agency has a unified purpose to make NSW a great place to live, work and visit. We are seeking a Data Architect to work for a large NSW government organisation based in Parramatta. This role is paying up to $950 per day + super and is a 6 month contract.

About the Role

The Data Architect is responsible for visualizing and designing an organization's enterprise data management framework. This framework describes the processes used to plan, specify, enable, create, acquire, maintain, use, archive, retrieve, control, and purge data. Key accountabilities include:

  • Experience in enterprise data solutions and capabilities, such as meta and master data management, analytics, data integration, data quality, data science.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior business stakeholders, technology stakeholders, as well as external groups, to develop Data Architecture roadmaps and Data & Analytics solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience and proven track record in delivering high performance, high availability, large scale data lake and data warehouse platforms.
  • Experience consulting with senior business and technology stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in turning business use cases and requirements into technical solutions.
  • Experience in facilitating effective use of Agile principles, processes and behaviours to ensure Architecture standards and guidelines are adhered to during the iterative delivery, as well as ensuring successful and considered implementation of architecture features and roadmaps.
  • Excellent communicator, able to negotiate, collaborate and explain difficult concepts to a variety of different audiences.
  • Strong understanding and awareness of future data trends.
  • Collaborating with data teams to determine how data is ingested in and out of data platform solutions including data lakes, data warehouses and data pipelines.
  • Producing high-quality documentation through excellent writing skills.
  • Amazon technologies such as S3, Redshift, Athena, AppFlow, Glue and Lake Formation.

  • Demonstrated ability through strong communication skills to connect with people of all levels and technical backgrounds. Ability to clearly explain the project goals as well as tasks, responsibilities, expectations and feedback throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others in and outside of their immediate team across the organization.
  • Lead and facilitate productive discussions with stakeholders and team members. Recognize and explain the need for compromise. Manage challenging relationships and pre-empt and minimize conflict to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal motivation to achieve project outcomes.
  • Undertake objective, critical analysis to draw accurate conclusions that recognize and manage contextual issues. Work through issues, weigh up alternatives and identify the most effective solutions.
