The Website & Digital Officer is responsible for delivering end-to-end website and digital initiatives across Council. This role ensures the website remains the primary, accurate, and accessible source of information for the community, while driving engagement through digital channels including eNewsletters and online campaigns.
Working collaboratively across Communications, IT, and creative teams, the role leads website projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring consistent messaging aligned with Council priorities.
Key Responsibilities Website Management & Delivery
- Manage and maintain Council's website CMS, including content creation, editing, and updates
- Deliver end-to-end website projects from brief through to production and launch
- Ensure website content is accurate, accessible (WCAG/AA compliant), and user-focused
- Continuously improve website functionality, usability, and performance
- Partner with internal stakeholders to scope, plan, and deliver digital projects
- Manage project timelines, briefs, and communication from initiation to completion
- Collaborate with Social Media, Design, Video and IT teams to deliver integrated campaigns
- Manage and grow Council's email database and eNewsletter program
- Drive community engagement through digital campaigns and content
- Ensure consistent messaging across all digital touchpoints
- Monitor, analyse and report on website performance (monthly reporting)
- Identify opportunities to improve user experience, engagement and digital outcomes
- Apply insights from analytics, SEO and user behaviour to optimise content
- Maintain accessibility standards (WCAG AA) across all web content
- Ensure compliance with records management, privacy, and digital policies
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts related to website and email platforms
- Stay up to date with digital trends, tools and technologies
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance Council's digital presence
- Support innovation and best practice in digital service delivery
Essential Requirements Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in digital media, communications, web development, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in website/digital roles
- Proven experience managing CMS platforms
- Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Experience managing eNewsletters and email databases
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong stakeholder engagement experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Strong content writing and editing skills
- High attention to detail and organisational skills
- Analytical mindset with problem-solving ability
