An opportunity is available for an experienced Solution Architect to join a technology project team supporting a diverse portfolio of enterprise programs within a large higher education and health environment.
The project team consists of approximately 20 professionals across program management, business analysis and technology disciplines, supporting around 10 concurrent programs of varying complexity, scale and vendor involvement.
The Solution Architect will work closely with Project Managers, business stakeholders and technology teams to design solution architectures that integrate effectively with existing enterprise systems. The role will contribute across multiple projects and programs, providing architectural guidance through solution design, documentation, governance and review processes.
The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between different projects and working across a broad range of stakeholders, technologies and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design and Architecture
- Design and document technology solutions that meet business, technical and security requirements.
- Work closely with Project Managers and business stakeholders to understand requirements and develop appropriate architectural solutions.
- Develop high-level and detailed solution architecture documentation, diagrams and integration designs.
- Assess how proposed solutions integrate with existing enterprise systems and platforms.
- Facilitate solution design discussions and contribute architectural expertise across multiple concurrent projects.
- Participate in architecture and security reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply established architecture principles, standards and best practices to solution designs.
- Ensure solutions consider relevant security, integration and governance requirements.
- Maintain architecture documentation and contribute to architecture repositories and governance processes.
- Provide architectural guidance across cloud, SaaS, API and enterprise integration environments.
- Contribute to projects involving AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365 and SaaS platforms.
- Design and assess API and system integration solutions.
- Support enterprise projects involving health technology, data platforms, corporate systems and integration with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Contribute to initiatives focused on transforming and integrating health data into common enterprise platforms.
- Build effective relationships with business stakeholders, Project Managers, technology teams and vendors.
- Work collaboratively with business and project teams to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions.
- Facilitate workshops and design discussions with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Provide flexibility across multiple projects and programs, adapting to changing priorities and requirements.
- Research and assess technology options and contribute to technology evaluations and recommendations.
- Support proof-of-concepts and the evaluation of new platforms and technologies.
- Contribute to the adoption of technologies and ways of working that improve business and operational outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience working as a Solution Architect within complex enterprise environments.
- Strong experience developing and facilitating solution architecture and design documentation.
- Experience working across both high-level enterprise architecture and detailed solution design.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work across business, technology, project and vendor environments.
- Demonstrated experience across one or more major cloud platforms, particularly AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Microsoft 365, SaaS platforms, APIs and enterprise integrations.
- Experience designing solutions that integrate with existing enterprise systems and platforms.
- Ability to work across multiple concurrent projects and programs with varying levels of complexity.
- Strong understanding of architecture governance, security considerations and technology standards.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience within the higher education sector.
- Experience working within health-related technology environments.
- Exposure to Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and health data platforms.
