We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Functional Analyst (HR/Payroll) to lead payroll configuration, testing, compliance, and support across our SAP environment. This role partners closely with HR, Finance and IT stakeholders to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations and to support ongoing system enhancements and projects.
Who We Are Looking For
- Extensive experience as an SAP Functional Analyst specialising in SAP HR/Payroll.
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards, tax and superannuation rules.
- Demonstrated expertise in SAP Payroll configuration, schema/rule analysis, and end-to-end testing.
- Proven ability to lead data validation, system troubleshooting and payroll parallel testing.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business language.
- Experience supporting SAP upgrades, migrations, or major HR/Payroll transformation programs.
Payroll Configuration & Maintenance
- Configure and maintain SAP Payroll schemas, rules, wage types and related HR/Payroll components.
- Ensure payroll processes comply with local tax, superannuation, awards and labour legislation.
- Manage payroll calendars, pay periods, and off-cycle payment processes.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance stakeholders to understand payroll and HR operational needs.
- Review business requirements against SAP functional specifications and document taxonomies.
- Provide expert advice on best-practice payroll processes and SAP functionality.
- Review source-to-target field mappings and provide clarification to data teams.
- Build value-mapping tables to support data transformation activities.
- Validate data extracted, transformed, and loaded; coordinate with business users to confirm data accuracy.
- Develop test scenarios and scripts aligned to business requirements.
- Lead integration testing, parallel payroll testing (PPRT) and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Validate payroll results, leave accruals, and system postings to Finance; troubleshoot discrepancies end-to-end.
- Identify, manage and mitigate risks and issues throughout the project and hypercare period.
- Investigate and resolve SAP HR/Payroll system errors, functional issues, and data problems.
- Contribute to the creation and update of functional documentation, configuration guides and end-user training materials.
- Participate in SAP upgrades, support packs, and enhancements—assessing impacts across payroll and HR processes.
- Ensure system changes are thoroughly validated and integrated smoothly into the landscape.
- Support internal and external payroll audits by providing required data, reports, and system evidence.
- Maintain data quality and ensure alignment with audit and compliance standards.
