About the Opportunity
A senior vacancy has opened for an experienced Records & Information Management Leader to guide a large, high-impact program of work within a major NSW government agency. This role will be responsible for driving compliance, uplifting governance, managing high-risk records, and leading a team of 20 within a broader function of 50 IRM professionals.
This is a critical position with visibility across an organisation of up to 35,000 employees, delivering expert oversight during a period of significant change and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of 20 records and information specialists.
- Oversee the management of the agency's highest-risk records, including extensive paper holdings.
- Ensure legislative compliance under the NSW State Records Act, including leading an annual audit (due March 2026).
- Drive sustainable governance improvements through updated records assessment tools and frameworks.
- Provide expert advisory on records requirements in the context of rapid digital transformation.
- Ensure systems and processes effectively support preservation, archiving, and lifecycle management of vital and high-risk records.
- Develop and support new operating model processes, policies, and procedures.
- Extensive senior-level experience in Information & Records Management (IRM).
- Proven leadership experience managing records/information teams in large or government environments.
- Deep and comprehensive understanding of the NSW State Records Act and related compliance obligations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide specialist advice on complex records management issues.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the capability to influence at scale.
- Experience guiding teams through organisational or operating model change.
- Background in large, complex, or highly regulated environments.
- Leading a team through a significant operating model transition.
- Providing detailed, expert advice on complex and high-risk records matters.
- Supporting development of new processes and procedures for future ways of working.
