Payroll Analyst – Local Council

A local council is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer
to join its high-performing Payroll Team. In this role, you’ll ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and in accordance with legislative and award requirements.
About the Role
Reporting to the Transaction Services Manager, the Payroll Analyst plays a crucial role in delivering efficient and accurate payroll services. You will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, data integrity, compliance, reconciliations, and supporting system enhancements within TechOne.

Key Responsibilities
• Process end-to-end payroll accurately and on schedule, aligned with statutory, award, and policy requirements
• Conduct payroll reconciliations and audits to ensure data integrity across TechOne and related systems
• Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and process required adjustments
• Maintain employee records, leave balances, and superannuation details in TechOne
• Ensure compliance with PAYG, superannuation, Long Service Leave, and other relevant legislation
• Provide responsive, customer-focused payroll support to employees and managers
• Support system upgrades, testing, and award updates in collaboration with HR (P&C) and IT
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and automation
About You
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing within a large or complex organisation (local government experience highly regarded)
• Strong understanding of the Local Government (State) Award
and associated employment conditions
• Solid knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, and superannuation requirements
• Experience using TechOne
or similar HR/payroll systems
• Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-service mindset
• Proficiency in Excel and confidence in data reconciliation
