We’re looking for a skilled Financial Modelling Senior Analyst to support evidence-based decision-making across key programs and initiatives. In this role, you’ll build and maintain robust financial models, analyse costs and trends, and deliver insights to guide strategic planning and budget submissions.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure accurate, efficient financial modelling and provide oversight of financial performance and reporting. This is a great opportunity to apply your analytical skills in a high-impact, purpose-driven environment.
Key accountabilities include:
- Design, build and maintain financial models using Excel, Power Query, and other tools to support strategic decision-making.
- Analyse historical and projected financial data to identify cost drivers, trends, and optimisation opportunities.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis to inform business planning and investment decisions.
- Collaborate with teams across strategy, operations, and finance to ensure accurate data inputs and model integrity.
- Translate complex financial outputs into clear insights, visualisations, and reports for senior stakeholders.
- Monitor expenditure and revenue performance, track against budgets, and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with robust reviews and timely updates.
- Deliver proactive financial insights for inclusion in monthly reports, dashboards, and management accounts.
- Prepare ad hoc analysis on financial performance, costings, and resource allocation.
- Create and manage custom reports in Power BI and other analytics tools.
- Assist with briefing materials and financial content for senior executives, including budget estimates and media responses.
- 2–5+ years’ experience in financial modelling, corporate finance, investment banking, or a similar analytical role in a large, complex organisation
- Proven ability to build and manage complex financial models and work with multiple data sources
- Proficient in Excel, with working knowledge of Power Query, Power BI, SQL, or other data visualisation tools
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field (CFA or MBA is a plus)
- Understanding of government processes (e.g. Cabinet submissions, budget cycles) is desirable but not essential
