Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a strong background in local government rates and revenue? We're looking for a motivated Rates/Revenue Officer to join the finance team and play a key role in delivering accurate, efficient, and customer-focused rates services.

About the Role
As a Rates Officer, you will be an integral part of the Rates & Receivables team, ensuring high-quality service delivery in the administration of property rates and charges. You'll work across a variety of revenue tasks—from processing ratepayer transactions to responding to customer enquiries—while ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, customer-focused rates administration services
  • Process changes of address, property transfers, Section 603 certificates, rate adjustments, and refunds
  • Manage pensioner rebate verifications and rate category changes
  • Assist in debt recovery of outstanding rates and charges
  • Reconcile EFT payments and maintain accurate rates records
  • Contribute to system improvements, audit processes, and register maintenance
  • Collaborate with internal teams and respond to customer enquiries (written and verbal)
  • Support general administrative and financial duties as required
About You

You are an experienced professional who thrives in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment and has a genuine passion for public service and finance. You enjoy problem-solving, value accuracy, and can work both independently and within a team.

To be successful:
  • Certificate in Business Administration, Bookkeeping or similar
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a Local Government rates and revenue environment
  • Knowledge of rating legislation and property revenue processe
  • Strong numeracy, data entry, and analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel)
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage time effectively and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Familiarity with WHS and EEO principles
