A leading local government organisation is seeking an experienced Recycling Programs Officer to support the delivery of waste reduction and resource recovery initiatives across the community.
This role will suit a sustainability or environmental management professional with strong project management capability, stakeholder engagement experience and a passion for improving waste and recycling outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and evaluate waste and resource recovery programs and projects
- Deliver initiatives aligned to waste strategy targets and broader sustainability objectives
- Support improvements to waste and recycling services to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to resolve ongoing waste management challenges
- Deliver community-focused projects that encourage waste reduction and increased recycling participation
- Assist with waste management plan assessments and development application referrals
- Maintain awareness of current waste management legislation, policy and best practice
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management or a related discipline
- Demonstrated experience delivering behaviour change or community engagement projects within time and budget
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to manage difficult situations professionally
- Current NSW Driver's Licence
