We're looking for a Mobile App Engineer to build and maintain high-quality mobile applications that deliver seamless, engaging user experiences across iOS and Android platforms. This is an exciting opportunity to work on modern, scalable applications in a collaborative Agile environment.
About the Role
You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing mobile applications using React Native (TypeScript). Working closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers, you'll help bring ideas to life while ensuring performance, usability, and compliance are front of mind.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into clear technical specifications and contribute to effort estimation
- Develop and maintain mobile applications using React Native for iOS and Android
- Build reusable UI components aligned with design systems
- Integrate native modules (Swift/Objective-C, Kotlin/Java) where required
- Write and maintain unit and integration tests (Jest, Detox)
- Support build and release processes for App Store and Google Play
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features
- Ensure accessibility standards (e.g., screen readers, dynamic fonts) are met
- Support CI/CD pipelines, environment configuration, and code signing
- Implement analytics and crash reporting to monitor app performance
- Ensure compliance with App Store/Google Play guidelines and relevant regulatory standards (including WHS)
- 4+ years' experience in mobile application development (React Native)
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and design patterns
- Experience with Android Studio, Xcode, and VS Code
- Hands-on experience integrating APIs and working with client-server architectures
- Familiarity with Redux/MobX and navigation frameworks (e.g., React Navigation)
- Experience with Git and branching strategies
- Knowledge of testing frameworks such as Jest and Detox
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts for mobile development
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Experience releasing apps to App Store and Google Play
- Experience in insurance or healthcare industries
- Exposure to accessibility and compliance-driven environments
