About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Role Description (RD) Writer to join a  Organisation Design & Change team within a government agency. This role is central to ensuring high-quality job documentation that aligns with business goals, organisational frameworks and change initiatives.
Working closely with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts, you’ll create clear, compliant and meaningful position descriptions that support workforce planning, job evaluation and change delivery.

Key accountabilities include
  • Develop position descriptions to support organisational change initiatives, ensuring all job design activities comply with the PSC role description capability framework.
  • Collaborate with business representatives, including subject matter experts (SMEs), to collect, evaluate and analyse job-related information, translating this into clear and accurate position descriptions that reflect business objectives.
  • Work closely with other P&C teams as needed to ensure adherence to frameworks and naming conventions, align common roles and maintain up-to-date role descriptions within the RD library.
  • Provide expert advice on job design concepts and position descriptions, offering options that align with business requirements, organisational design principles and corporate compliance standards.
  • Conduct job-related research and analysis, such as market benchmarking and assessing organisational impacts or job evaluation relativities, to support position design decisions and inform management
About You
  • Demonstrated experience in job design, role description writing or organisational development.
  • Knowledge of job evaluation frameworks and workforce capability models.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to translate complex information into clear, structured content.
  • A collaborative mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
