Project Officer (Grade 7/8) - Closing the Gap
 
NSW Government | 6-Month Contract | ASAP Start | $500 per day

We are seeking a Project Officer to work alongside the Senior Project Manager for Governance. This is a policy and governance-focused role and not an IT project.
 
This opportunity will suit a highly organised and procedure-focused professional with prior government experience who enjoys working in fast-paced environments, managing competing priorities and supporting meaningful policy and program initiatives aligned to the Closing the Gap reform objectives.
 
About the Role
 
The Project Officer will support policy development, project management and stakeholder engagement activities to contribute to the successful delivery of key initiatives across Aboriginal Affairs NSW.
 
You will provide a range of administrative, project coordination and secretariat support services while working closely with internal teams, government stakeholders and community representatives.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver administration, project management and secretariat support services under tight deadlines while managing competing priorities
  • Prepare a wide range of written documentation including reports, briefs, project plans, ministerial correspondence, agendas and meeting minutes
  • Coordinate working groups, consultations and committee meetings across a range of stakeholders
  • Support project tracking, governance processes and project documentation management
  • Undertake research and analysis to support policy and program initiatives
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and project delivery
  • Ensure all documentation and communication is accurate, professional and aligned with government processes and protocols

About You
 
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
  • Minimum 1+ years' prior Government experience
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
  • Experience preparing high-quality reports, briefs and correspondence
  • A highly procedure-focused and detail-oriented approach
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with, and understand issues impacting, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
