A leading Government Agency is delivering one of Australia’s most ambitious renewable energy infrastructure projects within the New England Renewable Energy Zone (REZ). We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Lead to join the project leadership team and oversee the Project Controls function for this transformative program.
Reporting to the Deputy Project Director, you will lead a team responsible for schedule, cost, risk, contract, document control and governance frameworks. Your role is pivotal in driving project delivery excellence, ensuring robust governance, and providing high-quality reporting to meet project and portfolio objectives.
Key accountabilities include:
- Lead and manage a Project Controls team (7-10 specialists), ensuring role clarity, engagement and prioritisation of deliverables.
- Oversee project scheduling, including detailed workstream programs, governance, variance analysis and schedule risk assessments.
- Manage project budgets through cost estimates, funding requests, accruals, forecasting and supplier contract management.
- Maintain accurate risk and issues registers and coordinate periodic quantitative cost risk assessments.
- Oversee contract management ensuring compliance with government procurement policies and supplier performance.
- Establish and maintain document control processes and governance assurance frameworks.
- Develop and implement robust project control frameworks, systems, policies and processes across the portfolio.
- Deliver high-quality, timely reporting to stakeholders to support effective decision-making.
- Provide expert advice and strategic input to project teams and senior leadership.
- Promote capability uplift and continuous improvement across the project and broader organisation.
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, or related discipline.
- Extensive experience (10+ years) leading Project Controls functions on Tier 1 infrastructure projects, ideally in high voltage transmission or linear infrastructure.
- Proven leadership in managing integrated, multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong understanding of public sector legal, regulatory, and governance frameworks (preferred).
- Exceptional skills in schedule, cost, risk, contract and document management.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with senior stakeholders.
