About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join a major NSW Government agency. In this role, you will provide procurement expertise and support stakeholders to plan, source and manage procurement activities that drive value for money and align with government policy.
You'll play a key role across the full procurement lifecycle—supporting sourcing, contract management, supplier engagement and compliance—while guiding internal stakeholders on best-practice procurement processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Validate business needs, gather market intelligence, and assist in analysing markets and risks to inform procurement planning.
  • Conduct end-to-end sourcing activities in line with government policies and procedures.
  • Support negotiations and establishment of supply arrangements that deliver value for money.
  • Develop and implement contract management plans, monitor supplier performance and manage issues or variations.
  • Provide expert advice, governance and procurement guidance to internal stakeholders.
  • Identify, mitigate and escalate procurement risks to ensure organisational compliance and opportunity optimisation.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and contract records, generating reports to meet audit and legislative requirements.
Key Challenges
  • Explaining procurement processes to stakeholders and influencing best practice within tight timeframes.
  • Staying up to date with evolving government procurement policies, legislation, and market conditions.
Key Relationships
Internal:
  • Functional Heads - reporting, insights and guidance
  • Business stakeholders - governance and support
  • Manager - strategic direction, issue escalation, project updates
External:
  • Vendors, suppliers, consultants - market insights, negotiations, contract performance
  • Other NSW Government agencies - benchmarking, collaboration, cross-agency initiatives
  • Professional and industry bodies - market trends, innovation, best-practice sharing
About You
You will be a strong communicator who can influence, guide and support stakeholders while maintaining compliance with government procurement processes. You enjoy analysing data, managing supplier relationships and ensuring procurement outcomes meet business and legislative requirements.
Essential Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement within government or large/complex environments.
  • Knowledge of procurement policy, sourcing processes and compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting contract management and supplier performance monitoring.
  • Ability to assess risks, analyse markets, and develop procurement recommendations.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
