We are looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to support Council’s payroll operations. This role is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing in line with the Local Government Act, relevant industrial awards and Council policies.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end payroll processing (timesheets, higher duties, back pay, adjustments)
- Process leave applications, entitlements, and leave without pay
- Manage workers’ compensation payments
- Maintain employee records (new starters, changes, pay rates, allowances, deductions)
- Review payroll exception reports
- Prepare and distribute payslips and payroll correspondence
- Respond to payroll and employee enquiries
- Ensure compliance with industrial awards and Council policies
- Experience in payroll processing
- Knowledge of industrial awards and payroll legislation
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
