About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Forward Works Planner to join our City Plan and Transformation Unit. In this pivotal role, you’ll help shape the future of our city by planning, developing, and reporting on Council’s forward capital works program — including Development Contributions (s7.11 / s7.12) and Special Rate Variation programs.

You’ll work collaboratively across Council departments and with external stakeholders to ensure our capital works are effectively prioritised, coordinated, and delivered — supporting the ongoing growth and sustainability of our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain long-term forward works plans for Council’s Development Contributions and Special Rate Variation programs.
  • Prioritise and coordinate capital works projects across multiple departments.
  • Monitor, measure, and report on expenditure, outcomes, and program performance.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, grant applications, and presentations for senior management, Councillors, and stakeholders.
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations on capital works planning and funding.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and efficiency in project delivery.
  • Support the activities of the City Plan and Transformation Unit and contribute to broader strategic initiatives.
About You
You’re an analytical thinker with a passion for planning and project coordination. You enjoy working across teams and thrive in environments that require stakeholder engagement, data analysis, and strategic insight.

You’ll bring:
  • Tertiary qualifications in urban planning, economics, social policy, environmental planning, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in developing strategic plans or policies.
  • Strong capability in managing multiple projects with competing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, plan effectively, and deliver results.
  • A current Class C driver’s licence.
Desirable:
  • Experience in local government or the NSW Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework.
