Penrith City Council is seeking a Digital Communications Officer to support and enhance Council's digital presence by delivering clear, engaging and accessible content across our online platforms.
This role plays a key part in maintaining and improving Council's corporate website and digital channels, ensuring the community can easily access timely, accurate and relevant information about Council services, programs and initiatives.
Working closely with the Communications team and subject matter experts across the organisation, you will contribute to digital campaigns, manage web content, support social media channels and monitor digital performance to continuously improve Council's online engagement.
Key Responsibilities Digital Communications
- Maintain, update and publish content across Council's websites and digital platforms.
- Ensure digital content delivers a high-quality user experience across desktop, tablet and mobile.
- Collaborate with Communications, Design and Events teams to plan and deliver digital communications and online engagement activities.
- Use Content Management Systems (CMS) such as SharePoint and Squiz to manage website content.
- Support the development of Council's digital presence including customer journey improvements, targeted campaigns and SEO optimisation.
- Ensure all digital content complies with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
- Monitor digital performance and produce reports to inform continuous improvement.
- Support the planning, scheduling and monitoring of content across Council's social media platforms.
- Work with internal teams and external agencies to ensure Council's brand guidelines are consistently applied.
Skills and Experience Essential
- Tertiary qualification in Digital Communications, Communications, Marketing or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering digital communications campaigns across web and social media platforms.
- Demonstrated experience managing and improving website content within a Content Management System (CMS).
- Strong ability to create engaging and user-focused digital content for diverse audiences.
- Understanding of digital accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
- Experience analysing digital performance using analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
- Ability to work with subject matter experts to translate complex information into clear and accessible content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Experience working in Local Government or a public sector organisation.
- Experience supporting website redevelopment or digital transformation projects.
- Knowledge of SEO, UX principles and content design.
- Experience using social media management and digital analytics platforms.
