My client, a major NSW Government organisation is looking for a Cyber Security Technical Delivery Lead to join a high-impact cyber security program leading the delivery of Essential 8 mitigation strategies across a complex hybrid environment.

This hands-on leadership role drives the consistent implementation of security controls aligned with the ASD ISM, ACSC Essential 8, and Zero Trust principles. This will be an initial 7-month contract (until EOFY) which is highly likely to extend, and based in the Sydney CBD offices 2x days per week, and working from home 3x days per week (Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team across infrastructure, cloud, identity, and applications.
  • Collaborate with architects, project managers, and vendors to deliver defensible, Essential 8–aligned solutions.
  • Validate control implementation through assurance testing and configuration baselines.
  • Monitor maturity metrics, provide governance updates, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Communicate risks, progress, and dependencies clearly to business stakeholders.
Essential Skills required:
  • 8 years Cyber Security experience in total
  • 3+ years experience delivering large-scale cybersecurity programs in enterprise or government environments.
  • Strong background in Microsoft technologies (Windows, Entra ID, Azure) and security frameworks.
  • Expertise in IAM, cloud and network security, SIEM integration, automation (PowerShell, Terraform), and privileged access management.
  • Skilled in stakeholder engagement and balancing technical outcomes with business priorities.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable Skills
  • Certified in Cyber Security (CISSP, CompTIA Security+ etc.)
  • Experience of large complex environments (Government, Banking Telco ect.)
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
