We are seeking a motivated and skilled Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer who will play a vital role in delivering clear, timely and effective communication and engagement across a range of infrastructure projects in north-west Sydney. The role involves providing expert support in stakeholder consultation, issues management, community engagement and digital communication. Working closely with project teams and senior leaders, the officer helps ensure that communication efforts are well-coordinated, responsive, and aligned with broader organisational goals.
Key accountabilities include
- Implement communication plans in coordination with project teams, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Develop and manage stakeholder engagement strategies, including drafting communication materials and identifying promotional opportunities.
- Plan and deliver events and consultation activities, such as workshops, forums and community engagement sessions.
- Support internal and external communication efforts, including digital strategies, media liaison and issues management.
- Contribute to stakeholder education initiatives by facilitating meetings and building engagement capacity.
- Provide strategic communication advice and participate in relevant government communities of practice.
- Manage administration tasks, including approvals, invoicing, reporting, and tracking communication activities.
- Maintain communication schedules and project calendars to ensure alignment and coordination across teams.
About You
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences
- Minimum 2 years of experience developing and delivering communication and stakeholder engagement plans
- Confidence engaging with community members, local councils, and external stakeholders in person and online
- Ability to coordinate and support events, workshops, and consultation activities
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects
- Experience in issues management and delivering clear, accurate customer information
- Familiarity with government or infrastructure project environments (highly desirable)
- A collaborative and proactive approach, working well within cross-functional teams
- Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, or a related discipline
