Duration: 4 Months
Rate: $67/hr + super

Overview
An experienced and strategic project leader is required to drive the development and delivery of Council's Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Transformation Program. The role is responsible for leading business planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, financial analysis, and strategic policy development to support climate resilience initiatives across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders, government agencies, consultants, and community stakeholders, the successful candidate will champion climate adaptation strategies and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with organisational objectives.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Program business plan, including financial modelling, risk assessments, mitigation strategies, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Provide strategic advice and develop high-quality reports, policies, business cases, and planning documents to support climate resilience initiatives.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across Council departments, government agencies, utility providers, universities, consultants, and community groups.
  • Drive collaboration and communication strategies to build organisational support and awareness of climate change adaptation initiatives.
  • Monitor project performance, budgets, grants, subsidies, and funding opportunities to maximise program outcomes.
  • Conduct research and analysis on climate change impacts, emerging technologies, resilience strategies, and industry best practices.
  • Lead risk management and compliance activities, ensuring adherence to Council policies, legislation, and governance frameworks.
  • Prepare executive briefings, reports, presentations, and recommendations for senior management and Council representatives.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, teamwork, and knowledge sharing within project teams.
  • Represent Council on relevant committees, working groups, and external forums.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Climate Change, Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience in strategic project leadership, business planning, and policy development.
  • Strong understanding of climate change impacts, adaptation strategies, and resilience planning.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing business cases, strategic reports, and complex stakeholder engagement plans.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Experience managing project budgets, financial forecasting, and risk assessments.
  • Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Desirable Experience
  • Local Government experience.
  • Experience in climate change adaptation, resilience planning, sustainability, or environmental strategy programs.
  • Experience securing grants, managing external funding programs, and working with government stakeholders.
