Are you looking for a hands-on role where your work directly supports the improvement and maintenance of community infrastructure? Council is seeking a motivated Building Scanner to join the team on a 6-month contract. This position offers a balanced mix of office-based work and on-site field tasks across the Local Government Area.
About the Role
You will be responsible for conducting preliminary site investigations, capturing detailed building and asset scans using portable scanning equipment, and supporting the accurate recording of Council’s infrastructure data. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical awareness, attention to detail, and a willingness to work both indoors and outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preliminary site inspections, including gathering building/site measurements and photographic evidence.
- Scan Council buildings and park structures using a lightweight (2kg) portable scanner.
- Download, save, and register building scans with consistency and accuracy.
- Capture, update, and upload data into Council’s asset management systems.
- Ensure data-capture devices are correctly configured for field use.
- Notify Maintenance Supervisors of any urgent or potentially life-threatening hazards identified during inspections.
- Uphold Council’s communication protocols when interacting with the public.
- Work 50% in the office and 50% on-site throughout the LGA.
- Safely operate Council pool vehicles during work hours.
- Strong understanding of building elements and structures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current NSW Driver Licence.
- Comfortable working both in the office and out on site across the LGA.
- Ability to carry and operate a portable 2kg scanning device.
- Previous experience using laser scanning equipment.
- Skills in AutoCAD, Revit and/or Recap Pro.
