We are seeking an organised and proactive Asset Planning Officer to provide technical advice, conduct asset inspections and support the planning and delivery of maintenance and renewal programs for Council’s civil infrastructure. You will play a key role in ensuring road reserve and public domain assets are safe, compliant and effectively managed.
About the Role
In this role, you will undertake routine, proactive, and construction-related inspections of civil assets, including Public Domain Damage Bond inspections. You will record asset condition data, provide technical and procedural advice for development-related works, and support restoration activities for damaged infrastructure. You will contribute to long-term asset planning, continuous improvement of inspection programs, and assist with DA technical assessments and customer enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine, proactive, pre- and post-construction inspections of civil infrastructure.
- Record asset inventory and condition ratings in Council’s asset management systems.
- Provide technical advice for Public Domain works and ensure compliance with DDA, DA conditions and Council specifications.
- Support restoration processes for damaged civil assets, including inspections, estimates and stakeholder liaison.
- Assist with maintenance and renewal planning and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Review DA referrals and respond to road infrastructure customer enquiries.
- Degree, diploma or qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management or similar.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience with a degree, 4 years with a diploma, or 6+ years in asset management or related fields.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated customer service capability.
- Ability to make sound technical decisions regarding civil assets.
- Experience with asset management plans, strategies and civil asset condition assessment.
- Competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Local government experience in asset management.
- Experience using Pathway, Content Manager, TechOne and corporate asset management systems.
