We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Aquatic Ecosystem Regenerator to join a busy Council environment based in Rooty Hill. This is a hands-on outdoor role focused on maintaining and rehabilitating aquatic ecosystems, wetlands, landscaped areas, and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) assets to a high standard.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in conservation, horticulture, bush regeneration, or natural area maintenance who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to environmental sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and rehabilitate WSUD assets, wetlands, lakes, riparian zones, gardens, and natural areas
- Undertake vegetation management, hand weeding, mulching, planting, and selective herbicide application
- Assist with water quality monitoring and ecosystem performance assessments
- Operate and maintain plant and equipment including mowers, whipper snippers, edgers, and related tools
- Carry out revegetation and regeneration works using recognised conservation and horticultural practices
- Complete hazard reporting, WHS documentation, timesheets, and daily work records accurately
- Ensure public spaces and Council assets are maintained to high presentation and safety standards
- Work collaboratively within a team environment and support apprentices or junior staff where required
- Certificate III in Conservation & Ecosystem Management, Horticulture, or equivalent
- Experience maintaining WSUD assets, gardens, or natural areas
- Chemical Application AQF3 certification (or equivalent)
- Current Class C Driver's Licence
- Strong understanding of safe work practices and outdoor maintenance operations
- MR Driver's Licence
- Chainsaw Certificate of Competency
- Traffic Controller Implementation Accreditation
- First Aid Certificate
- Bush regeneration experience
