Q. Why/ How did you end up in recruitment
I found my home within recruitment after a 2-year stint as a Hairdressing Apprentice during the “Makeup Artist” phase that briefly took over the world. My mum owns a salon and I thought the passion may be genetic. Unfortunately, it wasn’t for me and having previously worked in face to face sales and being a “Chatty Cathy”, I found I missed the thrill of the chase and speaking with new people every day. I’ve always thought of recruitment as more of a "match making" service and as we spend over a third of our life at work. I feel it’s so important to have a genuine passion for the industry you’re in. With this being said, nothing makes me happier than finding
the right person for a role or vice versa and enabling someone to find a role they truly enjoy. After all they say choose a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life!
Q. Hobby/ interest outside of work
I am frequently described as the “Spark” in the room and have the energy of a sugared up 5-year old! Outside of work I enjoy anything that gets me out the house and keeps me active. Having recently moved to Sydney from the UK back in February, my spare time is currently spent exploring my new home so any tips for a good walk/ day out please let me know!
Q. Field in which you specialise
In the UK I specialised in IT Support, Infrastructure and DevOps working across a variety of sectors such as Cyber Security, Finance, Healthcare, Automotive and Games Development. Joining Ashdown, I am excited to branch out within different industries and geographic markets and really zone in on Technology within the Government sector.
